Like most people, Rob Harris very unexpectedly became a caregiver when his wife was first diagnosed with cancer.
Since 1990, he has been caring for his wife and best friend, Cindy, who is a two-time cancer survivor. She is still experiencing challenges with a leg amputation that has forced her to remain wheelchair-enabled since January, 2010. As such, Rob continues to provide caregiver help more than two-decades later.
From this experience, he gained invaluable insight into how caregivers can provide exceptional support to their loved ones. Along the way, he’s also learned incredible life lessons as to how to appreciate and embrace each and every day.
Rob is the author of the book, “We’re In This Together: A Caregiver’s Story.” It chronicles Rob and Cindy’s uplifting story and offers 70 self-taught Caregiver Tips. His book has been an Amazon.com bestseller in the Physician and Patient Caregiving category, among others.
Rob has been a guest on NPR radio and several radio talk shows throughout the country. He has been quoted in an MSNBC/Today Show article and been on several Internet panel discussions. He’s filmed numerous caregiver videos for organizations such as Breast Cancer Answers, which you can find on Youtube and his website.
Rob is a regular contributor to the American Cancer Society’s affiliate website, WhatNext, and has written many guest blogs for countless other organizations, including TV Talk Show Host Leeza Gibbon’s website, Leeza’s Place.
Leeza is a huge supporter of his efforts to assist caregivers. She has read and endorsed Rob’s book. In part, she wrote: “Romantic and real, practical and inspiring, Rob Harris has struck a nerve with his helpful book.”
More than anything else, Rob is a husband, dad and son. His two sons are both officers serving in the U.S. Army. His oldest son, Kevin, is a Captain and serving his second deployment in Afghanistan. His younger son, Kyle, is a sergeant and has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Excerpts of Rob's book will be featured in an upcoming issue of Coping With Cancer magazine, with a readership of over half a million people.
Rob is an author, professional speaker and, more than anything else, a coach and counselor to all in need. He can be found on his website, where he blogs weekly, his Facebook fan page, where he provides a Caregiver Tip every day of the year, and on other social medial sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
