Hi, I think I was 8yr old my first memory of cancer being mentioned, I knew my nana (mams side) had cancer & died young before I was born, Few years later I ask about my nana, to find she was only 28 with 4 kids when she died, so my mam & her twin were only 6. Wasn’t till 2011 when my mam was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I realised what it was capable of, my mam died in 2013 aged 51. They say it comes in threes... & on 30/5/17 I was diagnosed aged 31 with stage 3 breast cancer, I went to get checked at docs after I found a lump, felt bit like a firm small grape & was totally painless so if I didn’t check myself it would have been a terminal diagnosis by the age of 40. I think I’m lucky based on that alone, I didn’t just have cancer I also had BRCA1 gene.
