I don’t know if cancer is going to take more than what it already took, 7 months of my life, and money that I didn’t have. Would cancer also take my possibility of having babies? While I write these lines, tears come down my face, I can’t do anything to stop them, as I realized that I can not do anything to increase my chances of having a baby.

Today marks my 5 year anniversary of my surgery. I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in March of 2011. Besides the loss of my thyroid I also had a left neck dissection where they removed 22 lymph nodes. Today there is still no sign of the disease , but my surgery side effects are still there.

Dear Cancer, You took away my hair, but I'm still here. You took away my ovary, but I'm still here. You took away my friends, but I'm still here. You thought you could take me away, but I'm still here.

Dear Cancer, I hate you Cancer!!! You killed my mother and made her suffer. You shortened her life when she had so much love to give and cheated her out of life and happiness. You took away my best friend and my father's heart & soul and my brother's happiness. Our lives will never be the same again because of you. You tried to kill me too and make my life a living hell. I had to scrape myself from the ground, back up again; but I did it and kicked your ass! I will fight you with everything I have, to make sure I destroy you; so you never hurt me or anyone else again!!

Dear Cancer, you threatened my life but gave me a new one. I want to hate you, but I don't. You are what you are, and while it was a pleasure kicking your ass, I also made a new path, including a comic that's given comfort to thousands. But I guess that says a lot more about me than you...so thanks for helping me realize what I'm actually made of.

"Life becomes routine and you find yourself bitching about everything then BAM you come face to face with death. I went from waking up dreading the day of fighting with the kids, the noise, the dogs crap....just the little things. Now I wake up and I hear the kids fighting or being noisy and I thank god that I'm awake to hear it. I'm definitely fighting because I really don't want to miss out on more to come. I love my kids , their dad, our fixer upper home, the sun in my face, the flies buzzing around, dogs barking...you get the point. I was given permanent rose colored glasses for whatever time I have left. God I thank you for my days and I hope that you give me more time here on earth to watch the 3 kids you gave me grow into gentlemen"- Karla, Stage IV Mucinous Adecarcinoma Fighter

"162 since my diagnosis and 29 days since my last chemo and I am rocking it! Every day since September 24th had brought on a new experience. Some emotional, some physical, others simply have no words. Cancer might have taken my hair but that's all I let it take. Don't let your struggle take your heart, spirit, or fight.
