I Had Cancer Guidelines

We're all here for similar reasons - we've been touched by cancer in some way. It’s up to all of us to show each other that no one is alone. Your IHadCancer profile is your own place to call home during this crazy thing called cancer, we just ask that you keep these simple guidelines in mind when participating.

1. Always Be Nice. This is a place for connections and conversations – we encourage you all to talk openly but please remain considerate in all of your engagement. Don’t post obscene, hateful or objectionable content. Abuse and disrespect will not be tolerated in the IHC community and is subject to deletion and user removal at our discretion.

2. Be a Good Friend. The IHC community is a family. Please remember to be a good friend to the connections you make on IHC. Ask questions that you wish someone would ask you; if you can’t find the right words to say, send a hug, it can speak louder than words. A simple gesture goes a long way.

3. Don't Spam. This includes sending unsolicited messages of any nature, posting links to unrelated content, promoting a survey, fundraiser or product where it shouldn’t be promoted. If you aren’t sure if something is appropriate to post, e-mail us and we’ll let you know.

4. Think Before You Post. Everything you post on IHadCancer is secure, but it is up to you to monitor how much or how little information you are sharing about yourself and your experience. Please don’t share personal or identifiable information like your mailing address or your full name and don’t share other member’s information.

5. If You See Something, Say Something. We work hard to make sure these guidelines are followed closely but if you see something that doesn’t’ feel right to you, please let us know. We review every report we receive and will take anything you say to heart. We promise.

6. Be Open. Welcome newcomers and help guide them through this journey based on your own experience. Whether you are a survivor, fighter, caregiver or supporter, you have valuable information that can very well help someone else who is just beginning the cancer journey. Be open to sharing experiences and give someone else the gift of your time.

Thanks for being a part of our community. It’s up to all of us to ensure that IHadCancer remains a place for us all to call home when dealing with the ups and downs of a cancer diagnosis.

Rosa's Pursuit For Hope Oct 2, 2011| Edit Our Story begins in 2006 when Rosa was diagnosed with Breast Cancer which resulted in Surgery, Chemotherapy and radiation treatment to cleanse her system of this dreadful disease. Through this all , your disease itself did not cause pain for Rosa yet the stripping of her self came when she lost all her hair. This did not stop Rosa however and she was given a clean bill of health and your cancer attack failed. We Won !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That brings us to July of 2010 , Rosa begins to have some issues with breathing yet we never expected to hear the words that caused us so much pain the first time " You Have Cancer" . Unfortunately you have returned yet this time you have brought a much stronger version which has led the doctors to say "There is No Cure" . We are now on your time yet we are not standing pat rather we are striking back . When we first got this latest news , Rosa was put on a Hormonal drug which made you happy because your tumours spread further in to her organs . We are fighting back with a new drug which has not only contained the growth of new tumours as well as shrunk those that had appeared originally. This is our way of fighting back and we will do whatever it takes to keep your devious plan on hold. At the time of the diagnosis , I was left in a mode of despair with no where to turn for relief . I had to find a way to accept this latest challenge and at the same time provide "Hope " to Rosa that we could take this latest setback headon . I made a commitment to bring a positive vibe to our journey by developing the Rosa's Pursuit for Hope Charity Event . I reached out to Freinds and Family and we had our first event in 2010 with the objective to spread the word of Rosa's Journey as well as others who have similar challenges . The end result was an evening of positive emotions with people sharing journeys that they may had dealing with this disease . Our efforts resulted in a firm commitment from Rosa and myself to continue to live each day as it comes and spread the word to others who need our support when they feel nothing but despair . This is a form of therapy for both of us and makes us appreciate more the journey we are faced with. If you want to see further the support we have received from our friends and family please go to Rosaspusuitforhope, org Lastly whether you are a patient , survivor or care giver never give up "Hope" no matter what your journey brings you have to look forward to each everyday that we are given.
